Pet Reiki Therapy

Reiki is a traditional energy renewal technique which taps the life force in nature and channels it to achieve personal empowerment and inner harmony within living things. Training is given in two levels, Reiki I and the advanced Reiki II. During a Reiki I seminar you receive four "energy transfers" via the crown of your head, through to your hands by direct contact with your teacher. The advanced level increases the potency of the energy flow and allows you to project the energy over long distances to send to others and pets who are not within reach. This involves two further, more complex energy transfers.

Dr Mikao Usui Rediscovers Energy Renewal System

Over a century ago, Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese scholar, discovered a formula in obscure Sanskrit writings which had been practiced long ago. Following a 21 day meditation on Mr Kuryama near Kyoto, Japan, he received an amazing confirmation of the healing properties of the energy renewal system he called Reiki.

Reiki Spreads Worldwide

After a seven year healing mission he set about teaching Reiki and trained his successor Dr Chujiro Hayashi of Tokyo. Before his death in 1941 Dr Hayashi appointed Mrs Hawayo Takata of Hawaii to continue the survival of the technique during and after World War II. Mrs Takata taught for ten years in USA and trained the Rev. Beth Gray in 1973. Beth Gray introduced Reiki to Australia in 1983 and trained approximately 20,000 students over a 20 year teaching career. Barbara McGregor (founder of Wellbeing magazine) member of ATMS and the Orthomolecular Medicine Association and Director of the Usui Reiki Network International and Keven Duff, BA, studied Biomedical Anthropology and Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) have continued the Reiki energy work in Australia, Asia and Europe since 1990.

Reiki Pet Therapy for Think Big Pets

Reiki energy can enhance extra-sensory perception or telepathic potential. With the animals, Narelle our Reiki Pet Therapist who trained under Keven Duff, Barbara McGregor and Sue Lake-Harris works not only with the life force energy flowing through pets' bodies but with the information transmitted through clairsentience and clairaudience. Metaphysical insights are taught at the Reiki seminars which give a deeper understanding of the meaning of health problems. Reiki is a valuable first aid tool which helps relieve pain, reduce swelling and staunch the flow of blood. Reiki is an aid to veterinarian advice and is never used as a substitute for seeking advice from your vet.

"The communication is a gift and I like to share it with pet owners," Narelle said.

Through the clairsentience she feels the pain the pet is experiencing and is able to locate where the problem is on the body. Sometimes pets have a lot of pain in different areas. Usually the most important pain presents first. The Reiki energy goes to the part of the body that has the highest need. This is one thing I have no control over.

"Once friends knew that I could give them information about their pet's problems, discomforts etc I had them constantly asking for help. One friend's Labrador escaped from the backyard for 15 minutes. He returned but appeared in a lot of pain. I was able to advise them that he had been hit by a car and had great pain in his neck region - a nerve was being pinched causing pain down his front leg. They rushed him to the vet and this information was confirmed by the vet who also treated him for pain in the back leg."

Sometimes our Pet Therapist can't communicate with a pet. She tried several times with a Jack Russell puppy. "He was so hyperactive that no communication was possible," Narelle said. "The Reiki energy was given and this seemed to calm him down a little."

An overriding message that comes through the Reiki Pet Therapy from pets is "love". Many pet owners are touched by the message of how grateful they are for the love received.
