Horses make wonderful pets and there are a range of different activities you can enjoy when you become a horse owner. My sister fell in love with horses when she was a teenager. She bought her first pony, joined the local pony club and since then has showed horses, owned and managed riding schools and boarding stables and has worked with polo horses.
As well as riding your horse and going on trail rides, many people compete in horse shows. Many areas have pony clubs which help teach valuable riding skills as well as allowing horses and riders to develop friendships and fitness.
As well as competing in your local horse show, here are many different types of horse shows you can compete at on an international level. Some of the international disciplines include dressage, endurance, eventing and show jumping.
