Birds love to play and by providing great bird toys, you can help stimulate your bird and keep it happy and healthy. There is a great variety of bird toys available. We have provided a selection of our favourite bird toys. If you have a lot of different toys available, swap them around so your bird gets to play with a variety of toys.

I remember having my first Budgie and there were only a few toys available such as swings, baths and ladders. Nowadays there is a great range of toys made especially for birds and as well as conventional bird toys, there are also educational toys available. These include many training aids from bird cassette tapes to bird puzzles. We have just started our new Pet Club and are looking for great bird photos, so if you have any photos please send them in.

Bird Swings
Birds love to swing and will have lots of fun playing on bird swings. A swing will help keep your bird fit and healthy. By using a bird swing, your bird is getting similar exercise to birds in the wild that cling to moving tree branches. Nowadays there are a variety of swings made from different materials such as wood and stainless steel, and they have a variety of attachments.

Bird Mirrors
Birds love mirrors and can spend too much time in front of it. If you purchase a mirror, be careful that your bird is not spending too much time watching himself, as some birds may become too addicted and not eat properly. I remember my Budgie started becoming too interested in his mirror so we changed his toy to a toy fish. He then became a bit too interested in his toy fish so we started rotating more toys around. I guess some birds are the addictive type.

Bird Ladders
Ladders are fun for birds and there are many different sizes and colours available. I still remember when my first budgie started to use his ladder. It's a lot of fun watching them learn and play.

Bird Harnesses
If you are taking your bird outside, you may wish to purchase a bird harness. There are different sizes available to suit different birds. Many birds enjoy the bird harness and have fun when you do take them out for a walk wearing their harness. Bird Baths
Birds love to have a bath. There are small baths available for caged birds or you may wish to purchase a bath for your local wild birds. I have a bird bath in my front yard. It's wonderful to watch them splash and play in the bath.

Bird Foot Toys
Birds like different toys and there are a variety of foot toys which are made up of items such as disks, bells, pacifiers and other colourful objects.

Bird Chew Rings
Another great toy for birds is a bird chew ring as they love to chew. There are some great chew rings available in a variety of different colours.

Bird Shredding Toys
Some examples of great bird shredding toys are tape holders and balls. Always choose toys made especially for birds.

Bird Perches
Some ideas for different perches are calcium perches, cement perches, PVC perches, rope perches and show perches.

Bird Cuttlebone
Cuttlebone is used to keep your bird healthy. However, it is also a great activity for birds who love to chew.

Bird Music
Why should kids have all the fun? Nowadays birds can enjoy music designed especially for them.
